Sweater Weather: Comfort and Color
Teach Pray Love |
With all the ice and snow that we’ve been experiencing, I was not braving it in heels this week! Although I’m still lacking color, I like to choose pieces that I can dress up or down, depending on where I’m going, so this weeks outfits, you’ll probably see pieces popping up again in the future, and you’ll notice that they’re from affordable clothing stores.
"Teach" Outfit: I decided to go with those black fleece tights (again) because they’re super comfy and warm! It’s kind of hard to see from the distance, but the skirt (JC Penny) has both black and brown in it, which makes it easy to pair with a number of pieces or colors from my closet. I decided to go for a black three-quarters sleeve top from Old Navy because it had sequence around the neck, and I mean, who doesn’t like to sparkle?
"Pray" Outfit: A few years ago, you wouldn’t have caught me dead in skinny jeans, however, after some encouragement from my co-blogger, I bought my first pair, and now, I’m absolutely addicted! These black skinny jeans are from Old Navy. What I like about their jeans is that you can buy them in different cuts to suit your body shape. The shirt, also from Old Navy, is just a sheer white top paired with a white tank under it.
"Love" Outfit: This was my Tuesday night dinner outfit with a friend. I love layered shirts, so I took a plain, white sweater and paired it with a denim shirt (both from Old Navy) and wore it with a pair of dark, denim skinny jeans from TJ Maxx and Madden Booties. It was comfortable and warm, and those are two priorities in my book.

If the slogan for a mullet is "business in the front, party in the back," is the wardrobe equivalent "color on the bottom, neutral on top"?! I continue the trend of wearing a pop of color in each outfit (maybe to brighten up these chilly winter days!), but that doesn't leave me with much option on the top. Bright colors need to be balanced with a neutral.
"Teach" outfit: The turquoise skirt from Banana Republic is one of my go-to's during warmer months, but I decided to try to winterize it by wearing fleece lined tights. The black and white print top is sheer from LC Lauren Conrad (Kohl's), so I needed something over it. The blazer finishes the look to make it more professional, and is an old one I have from Express (shoulder pads aren't my favorite, but I deal).
"Pray" outfit: I could substitute any pair of skinny jeans to work with this black sweater (Express) and black/white gingham button down (Levi's). The mustard pants are another pair of colored bottoms I picked up at Target last season (Merona brand).
"Love" outfit: I bought these Seven7 pants to wear over the holidays, but with the top and necklace they made for a good date night selection. The MaxStudio jacket is a recent addition and new fave, so I'm sure it will make an appearance again soon!
Whether you have a date for Valentine’s Day or not, treat yourself to a special day filled with a cute outfit, delicious dessert, and something special. After all, happiness is found in the littlest of things.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
xoxo,
A & M
